Those in the party that keep saying "we do not have chance to win", you are only defeating yourself. If want to be serious about winning elections and recruiting others, it is vital for the party to develop a positive message and attitude. Having a positive attitude will attract others much more than a negative attitude. It is also important to present new and innovative ideas for challenges we are facing today. The party must have vision and innovative solutions if you are to be the party of the future. Do not be afraid to present bold innovative ideas for good governance, fiscal accountability and health care reform. People today mobilize around issues and ideas, not party label.

The party should also start focusing more on outreach, looking in the communities for new blood with fresh ideas. The party has failed by not including new people in positions responsibility and party leadership, were they have become stale, by creating an echo chamber. This is most vital for any political parties future to bring fresh and new ideas in the political process. As part of this over all strategy the focus should be on recruiting viable candidates to challenge every public office held by a Democrat, this includes local state and federal levels of government. Giving voters a greater choice at election time and it holds public officials more accountable to the people. Most importantly it increases the parties profile and debate on public policy differences.

Always keep in mind for Democracy to remain legitimate the ones in power must be willing to give it and and let others assume positions of leadership. In Maryland were one political party has been in control over much of its history, the majority party has become arrogant and out of touch with hard working Marylanders pay taxes. Regardless of whether it is the Democratic or Republican party, one party should never control all levels of government for a long period of time.

Many of us have under estimated the influence of social web-sites and new technology has had in the political process. The growing trend today is new media that engages more people in campaigns and public policy debate. Social web sites have created an organic process by mobilizing the grass roots, that become engaged political campaigns, much faster than before. This New Media form has creating greater two way communication between the people and those governing the state.

I am confident that Republicans can make gains if they focus on fiscal conservative principles. Regardless of ones position on social issues, the party must remain united on its founding principle's of fiscal conservative values. With government spending out of control the people will be turning to candidates that will restore fiscal accountability in government.

We can can start a new day in Maryland, by electing conservative leadership to take charge of Maryland. State leaders that will restore fiscal accountability in state government. By working together we can bring good government to Maryland. A state government that is prudent with your taxes dollars, welcoming new industry and new ideas. I also invite you to join my blog and post your comments and concerns. seems to be is raise taxes. Next year I am certain our Governor will try to raise our taxes again even with after receiving federal stimulus money.

What Maryland needs is leadership that will stand on principles, representatives who will fight to let Marylanders keep more of what you earn by cutting taxes and reducing barriers to success, by shirking the size of state government.

I believe it is possible to make up for the budget deficit while investing in Education and Health Care, without raising taxes, but in order to do this, we first need to turn to tide on wasteful state spending, standing on the commitment that we ensure government does not grow faster than our wages, that government control is not deemed more important than individual freedoms.

I would like to hear your comments or suggest on what can be done for Maryland to balance its budget without raising your taxes dollars.

Best Regards!

Meyer Marks

The Seven Principles of Restoring Good Government

Dear fellow In order for the Republican party to regain the peoples confidence then it must focus on the issues of smaller government and less taxes. The Republicans must reconnect with the independent and centralist voters who are fiscally conservative but socially progressive with a strong national security. This means that it must be more progressive and modernize to embrace the big tent philosophy on social issues that can attract libertarians again. Most importantly the Republican Party must regain credibility on fiscal issues like a balanced budget and a flat tax. It is crucial for the future of the party to start reaching out and win over the younger generation of new voters. With that in mind I thank the best choice for R.N.C. Chairman is Michael Steele, he is someone that can reach out to the next generation of leaders.
If history is any guide, I am hopeful the Republicans will be able to gain seats during the 2010 election cycle. Historically, the American people tend to vote for the minority party after one party has been in control of both the Executive and Legislative branch of government. I am one that tends to believe that our country is governed best when one political party controls the executive and another political party controls the legislative branch of government, were this tends to keep the power in check. On a personal note I would like to extend my support to the Democratic majority in the hope of working together in the best interest of the American people. Please contact me with any comments or concerns you may have. I would very much welcome any support you can give at this time.

Best Regards!
Meyer Marks
Email marksformaryland@gmail.com
Marks For Maryland Committee
2400 Boston Street, Suite 102
Baltimore, Maryland 21224

U.S. Media and the Presidential Campaign

As much as I would like to refrain from commenting on the U.S. Presidential elections, I could not sit back and withhold my comments regarding the media bias during Presidential election's. In all my years of being active in Politics I have never seen the U.S. media, print, and T.V. devote the majority of there time towards only one candidate for U.S. President. I could not help but notice how the Washington Post has published three or four articles towards the democratic candidate for President, as compared to only one article regarding the Republican candidate for President. With regards to the T.V cable news coverage, CNN this past week has devoted every evening towards the Democrats presidential candidate trip to Europe in his meeting with the heads of State. As compared to only a limited amount of coverage towards the Republican presidential candidate campaign trail. We have some Maj0r faults in our system, when the U.S. Media is so bias towards to reporting of the presidential elections. It is important to note the Federal F.C.C. law to allow all candidates equal time coverage during a federal campaign. One would thank with such unfair media coverage towards the Democratic party, one would thank that we live in a country much like Russia. It is important for a democracy to have a free and fair election process with equal media time for each Presidential candidate. Please send me any comments that you may have regarding this topic.
Best Regards!
Meyer Marks

Maryland's Governor's Office

Meyer Marks

Thoughts on the Governor's office

Some personal thoughts on the present Governor of Maryland, I found it interesting he will spend so much time criticising the former Republican Governors policies of supporting slot machines, but as soon as he is elected Gov. he proposes the same of the very some policies.

As it should be noted how he spends so much time blaming the former Governor for the budget crises, but he fails to realize the 2.7 billion dollar deficit Gov Ehlrich. inherited from the previous Democrat Governor.

When Gov Ehlrich was elected he was able to contain the budget deficit by proposing a hiring freeze on state employees and cutting wasteful spending. All of this was done without raising the states sales taxes or income taxes. Gov. Ehrlich left office with a surplus in the states rainy day fund. Now that Maryland has a Democratic Governor again his solution to balancing the state budget is the raise income taxes and sales taxes, then propose new taxes on the service sector industry. It is time the present governor stop blaming the former Governor Erich for the problems in state government. He should focus more on doing his job as Governor, and act more "gubernatorial" As it should be noted now that Gov. Ehrlich is out of office he has not once criticized the present Governor and his policies.
